Peppys San Two is a 1978 bay Stallion. He was bred by Hanes Chatham, a well-known name in cutting horse circles. Chatham sold him as a long yearling, and then he changed hands again as a two (2) year old, when Mike Martin (now deceased) of Cleveland, OK, purchased him. Mike put him in training with Lorin Ashley. That combination paid off for Mike, with "Peppy" and Lorin winning in excess of $37,000 ^back when cuttings didn't pay near as much as they do in todays arenas), with very limited showing. During "Peppy's" 4-year old year, he won 7 of his last 8 outings, making co-reserve champion in the one that he didn't win. "Peppy" and Lorin competed and won against such well known cutters as Matlock Rose, Bronc Willoughby, Larry Reeder, Kobie Wood, Bill Riddle, Terry Riddle and Pat Patterson, and horses such as Oaklynn, Reminic, Reylena, Steady Doc, Miss Doc Lynx, Docs Phoebe, Chick Tari, Brinks Hickory Flo and Becky Lynx.

In December, 1982, nearing the end of his 4-year old year, Mike Martin sold one-half interest in "Peppy" to the Triple Bar S Ranch for $250,000.00. "Peppy" then retired to the Triple Bar S Ranch to stand at stud. Shortly thereafter, Mike Martin regained full ownership of "Peppy" and brought him home to Cleveland. Mike then bred him to his own broodmare band. In early 1997, Mike Martin lost his long battle with cancer. His estate sold "Peppy" to Jim Staires, owner of the JRS Ranch in Catoosa, OK, where "Peppy" is breeding the JRS Ranch's select band of broodmares and a limited booking of outside mares.

Peppys San Two is a 100% foundation bred stallion, tracing back to the greatest Quarter horse bloodlines there are. Even with his limited breeding career, he has produced several performers including Mr. Holey Peppy, $88,325, Peppy Sans Brave, $23,373, Miss Poco Ganns Girl, $15,540, Chriss Peppy San, $4,038, and Major Peppy Royal, $3,887. Many of his offspring have been sold to some of the finest cattle ranches in the southwest.

Peppys San Two was sired by Peppy San who placed 2nd in the very first NCHA Futurity in 1962, won the 1967 NCHA World Championship, was 7th in the 1968 NCHA Non Pro Top Ten, and was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 1971. Peppy San was also an AQHA World Champion with a record consisting of a Superior in Cutting with 181 points and 26 Halter points. Peppys San Two's dam was Top Sails by The Judge who was an own son of King. She earned an NCHA Certificate of Ability and a Register of Merit with 9 Cutting points.

"Peppys" bloodlines will be an asset to any breeding program. His pedigree reads like Who's Who of the Quarter Horse breed, full of names like Leo, Old Sorrel, King, King's Pistol, Zantanon, Joe Bailey, Steeldust, Joe Reed, and of course, Peppy SUn. The King Ranch, Kingsville, TX, well-known for their World Champion Cutting horses, as well as their ranch horses, has seen fit to include this bloodline in their program for the stamina, confirmation and disposition that is passed on through generations.
